WinningRuns.com trip back East to visit Crossroads Arena in Cloverdale, Indiana, has been fruitful to say the least. This month, Charlotte and the crew are coming to you again from the best arena East of the Mississippi, and they are bringing Brad Wagner to you!! As a five time AQHA World Champion in both barrel racing and pole bending, a three time Sweepstakes Congress Champion in Pole bending, and with multiple futurity and derby wins under his belt, Brad offers you his best in this video installment and he shows you how (from started colt to finished horse) to make that Winning Run!

In this video Brad shows you how to make a horse:
– How to start, train and tune a barrel horse.
– How to address common issues in finished horses.
– How to create fluidity and correctness around a barrel.
– and some helpful tips for pole benders.

Brad rides three different horses in this video and allows you to view his training program from start to finish. Every aspect of his program is outlined and discussed in this video from breeding, to training, bit selection and correcting common issues. Brad brings a three year old that is started on the pattern and hasn’t even made he first exhibition run yet, an older horse that is finished and being tuned and ridden to keep him working the pattern well, and still another horse from his barn who has some trouble with his first barrel and needs a little work. Brad’s instruction focuses on helping you to create a smoother faster run with snappier turns and a willing horse who is light and responsive.

This video is suitable for beginner to advanced riders with at least average riding ability, and the exercises presented here are suitable for young to finished horses. Brad discusses such topics as bit selection, head placement, flexion, pocket size, alleyway refusal, leaning into pockets, and ducking at barrels. With a focus on limiting the amount of fear and anxiety that is placed on his horses, Brad has been able to create a successful program. This video is an opportunity to delve into Brad’s program and take away knowledge that will improve your partnership with your horse and allow you to make that Winning Run!
