By VeNecia DeCluette

With a little bit of finesse, Paul Humphrey will help you to shave seconds off your run, stop your horse from shouldering in, and provide you with solutions to the most common barrel racing problems.

Paul Humphrey has continued his legendary career on many horses, reflecting his keen training and horsemanship ability. He has been running barrels for three decades, and in that time Paul has won numerous awards and competitions but his proudest achievement is being a 10 time European Champion. He spent three years (1997-1999) in Italy training, and in that time he has won every major event Italy has to offer. Upon his return to the USA, Paul built a multi-faceted program to fit every need - clinics, classes, private lessons, custom-made saddles and bits. The foundation of Paul’s approach to training barrel horses is to educate a barrel prospect the old fashioned way - with patience. He reads the horse and then decides which training program will help the horse reach it’s fullest potential. He believes in “helping” the horse enjoy their job.

I really liked Paul's riding style and his training philosophy in this video.  His talk about bits and body position was GREAT.
The one frustration I had with the video is that he never made a clean run, and I desperately wanted to see him make a good clean run.

I really enjoyed watching this DVD. I liked how he showed us what he did with the different horses.
